little people and other toys

Delaney is really into playing with Fisher Price Little People right now and I LOVE it. She sets it all up and talks in all the different voices of all the people. Here she has the animals set up inside the fence and people gathered all around looking at them.

The main reason why we have so much of this set (farm, house, airplane, school bus, parking garage, etc.) is because I had the little people village when I was a kid and have such fond memories of it. I spent hours playing with that village. In fact when I decided to blog about this I googled the village and came up with a few photos of it - they brought a tear to my eye! (ha ha just kidding) So here it is, the 1974 vintage Little people village. It was so cool. I also found a photo of the Barbie cruise ship but that's a whole other story that I'll save for another day. :)

happy spring!

For the first day of spring I thought I'd post a warm sunny photo of Delaney... no wait, that's me! (har har) I guess maybe the 1977 pants might give it away. I wish my hair was still that colour!
It's not too warm yet but it's nice and sunny and I'm glad to see the snow melting away finally. We're looking forward to playing in the backyard on the grass. Now if only the forecast didn't call for rain....

he's serious about dental hygiene

Dav's latest favourite thing is his toothbrush. The minute anyone opens the bathroom door he comes running at full speed (we usually have it closed to stop him from throwing things in the toilet :), pushes his way in and opens the drawer for his red toothbrush. The problem with this is that I could never pry it out of his hands for me to do any real brushing in there. So I decided to get a second toothbrush, one for him and one for me. Well, apparently they are both now his. As you can see he likes to have one for each hand.

silly fun

Saw this on Bruce's blog and thought I'd try it. If it came up with anyone weird I wasn't going to put it up. :) I'm not sure why it's so big but oh well. I should be off cleaning something instead I guess. Thanks a lot Bruce! ha ha

spring blooming

Yesterday at the grocery store a clerk gave this little bouquet to Delaney - it totally made her day! It made mine too because it's so beautiful and smells great. A little bit of spring in our kitchen. I'm really looking forward to spring jackets, warm breezes and green grass.

Future rock star? Maybe.
I wonder if I could make it a faux hawk tomorrow.

defeat

Well after raving about Rob and Amber they were pretty mean last night and then ended up losing. Oh well. Not sure who to root for now. Uchenna and Joyce are nice but they already won I think. Maybe Oswald and Danny? :)

5 things

Not too much new lately so I thought I'd post five of my recent favourite things, in no particular order.
1. The Amazing Race - Every time it starts up again I think it won't be as good as the last one, but once again I'm watching. I just find it so entertaining and I love to see all the places they travel to. I know a lot of people can't stand Rob and Amber but I think he is funny and that they are such good racers. He's just so clever! :)

2. The Glass Castle - by Jeannette Walls is the latest book I've read. A fascinating true story about an impoverished family. "The Glass Castle is truly astonishing -- a memoir permeated by the intense love of a peculiar, but loyal, family. Jeannette Walls has a story to tell, and tells it brilliantly, without an ounce of self-pity." It reminded me of Angela's Ashes, another story that I loved.

3. I love this paper - the Blush line from Basic Grey. I made this scrapbook page for Valentine's Day and it isn't quite done - it still needs photos of each of us but I just love the colours. I'm envisioning doing some heritage pages using this stuff. (click to see larger)

4. Photography - I think autumn is my favourite season and I just got these three photos developed 11x14 for our living room. I can't take credit for taking them but aren't they amazing? I love the colour.

5. Dr. Seuss - His books are just so fun to read. I've been buying them for Delaney since before she was born and we now have quite a collection. Our recent favourites are One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and Oh the thinks you can think!

What's one of your favourite things? :)
