sandbanks!

Bryan and Jen were here this weekend and suggested we go to the beach together on Saturday. Dav had this goofy grin on his face for about half an hour after we got there, he was just so pleased to be playing in the sand. There were sand castles and kingdoms and lots of fun in the water. Delaney was buried in the sand in this big hole that Bryan and Jen dug, and Stephen made these cool turtles.

We'll definitely be back next year!

one fine day

Today we met Daddy for a picnic lunch down by the bay and then a walk/ride on the Riverside Trail. I had trouble getting pictures of Delaney, she was always zooming off in front of us! Dav loved an opportunity to ride his little trike on a big wide path (better than our gravel driveway!) What a beautiful day for a walk by the water. There were even a few trees with leaves changing colour... can summer really be almost over??

our little adventure

On Wednesday we left home early and headed to Whitby to catch the GO train to Toronto. Dav LOVES trains and we thought he'd be thrilled to ride one. He was pretty excited and we had a great trip to Union Station.
From there we walked to the ferry dock to take the ferry to Centre Island. It looked like it might rain but thankfully we only had about half an hour of drizzle, mostly while we were on the carousel.

Dav has never really been on any rides before but he was so proud to be able to ride with big sister.

Delaney was happy to see there were pony rides and we were surprised that Davin wanted to ride too.

The tractor picture is for Papa Gerry. :)

The little train went all around the amusement park and gave us a good idea of where we wanted to go next.

centre island continued

There is a fantastic view from the island of the city. We only explored the amusement park section of the island but there are really nice gardens/ picnic areas and a beach too. By late afternoon Dav was zonked out in the stroller and stayed asleep for the ferry ride back. They finished off the day with some popcorn in bed at the hotel. :)

bowmanville zoo

On Thursday we went to the Bowmanville Zoo. I've had so many people tell me that they like this zoo because you don't have to walk very far and you can get really close to the animals. We got a bag of food and the kids had a great time feeding the goats, llamas, reindeer, etc. No wonder the animals are out and close to the fence - they get fed! My favourites were the zebras and the papa lion. The kids had fun at the splash pad too.

goats!

I think a highlight for both kids was the baby pygmy goats that you could pet and feed. They were running around and climbing on stuff. Dav was pretty scared of them at first but then later was petting them and was so pleased with himself.

cottage weekend

We were at the cottage for the long weekend. The weather didn't always cooperate, but we had fun anyway.
