Dav's 2nd birthday!

Davin had a great time opening presents and eating cake! He is all set now for ripping open presents at Christmas. :) He is loving all of his new toys and Mommy is loving his new clothes! Gramma Donna made an amazing snowman cake - can you see the detail on the scarf and hat? And the cute little mittens? And a real carrot nose!

a year in review

I made up a slide show for Davin's birthday with photos of while he was one... I picked a few fun photos from the past year to share here. :)

quick update

I haven't been updating much lately... we've been desperately fighting some sort of stomach virus that has kept Davin sick since last Tuesday (yes, six days!) It makes me realize how much we take our health for granted. Anyway, here's hoping that tomorrow he wakes up feeling better. More later.
p.s. he wore the pirate costume :) arrrrrr!

which one?

My friend Andrea let me borrow these two costumes for Davin but I'm having trouble deciding which one to put on him for the big night. Aren't they cute?
I think I like the pirate best but when he wears the chicken he walks around saying "bawk bawk" which is pretty funny too.

corn maze

It was a very chilly Saturday but we had fun at the corn maze with friends. Delaney loved running through on the paths with the kids and her favourite parts were feeding the ponies in the little barn and the wagon ride.
Davin kept taking detours off the maze path into the rows of corn and we had to keep chasing after him, which he found quite funny.
They both really liked feeding the ducks. I thought the kids would be scared but they held out their hands with corn and the ducks ate right out of their hands.
(p.s. Bruce I stole some of your photos, hope you don't mind :)

Thanksgiving

We have SO much to be thankful for, especially these two faces.

giving thanks

We had a great time at the Osmond family Thanksgiving today. Lots of yummy food! Dav had a blast playing in the leaves. He wasn't too sure at first but then was throwing them into the air and jumping into the pile like a pro. The kids are thankful for such super older cousins who like to play with them and teach them new things!

Autumn at Vanderwater

I have been going to Vanderwater park in the autumn since I was a kid and I'm always amazed by the beauty of the trees and water. This year the water level is way down so there weren't many waterfalls but we were able to eat our picnic on the rocks out in the middle of the river.

Last year we went too late and many of the leaves had already changed and fallen. This year we were a little early so maybe we'll have to go back next weekend. :)

cute boy

Okay, I may be biased but I think this kid is pretty cute. I tried a little photo shoot with him today after church and got some good ones. He looks a lot older than 21 months here, don't you think?

food for thought

thinking about this quote tonight...

"...but the biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while doing this. I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of the three on them sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4, and 1. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in a hurry to get on to the next things: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less." - Anna Quindlen

slippin' and slidin'

On this chilly Saturday I am thinking back to last weekend's warm days. Stephen got out the slip and slide for the kids one last time. The water from the hose was FREEZING so I can't believe they were interested but once they got going they didn't want to stop.

family resemblance

Don't they look alike? These were taken at the cottage on Labour Day weekend. (this is Laney's cousin MacKenzie, Stephen's brother's daughter...)

first day of school!

We weren't too sure how this morning would go and whether Delaney would get on the bus but she did!

Here she is the night before her first day.

Breakfast with Davin. Note his adoring look. He thinks she is all that.

Our school girl!
She had a great day.

school girl

Delaney had another 6 inches cut off her hair this weekend and it looks great! She looks quite different though, and older. She was trying on some new school outfits and said, "Look at me Mommy, I'm a school girl" :)

Canada's Wonderland!

Last Friday we went to Wonderland with friends and had a great time! It was kind of surreal to go with our kids and see them go on rides that we rode as kids. The mountain and the Hanna Barbera rainbow are such familiar sights from being a kid and coming here. Delaney loved going on all the rides with her friends (and even went on the Ghoster Coaster!)(twice!)
