bit of spring

I'm tired of this mushy wet winter. It should either be cold enough to be snowy or warm enough to have green grass! :) I was experimenting with the camera a little bit and took these shots. I love these daisies and thought I'd share a few of the photos.

igloo

Last year Stephen made a real igloo with the kids and so this year when I spotted one of those snow block makers at Target I grabbed it. On the weekend he put it to good use and made this giant igloo! I loved these photos of Dav sitting inside it. (Note: it was a pretty warm day so he had taken off his hat - I had to put that in there because when I look at these photos I cringe a little bit - ha ha)

Too bad it rained all week this week and it's all gone!

I guess they'll have to make another one.

Happy New Year!

We had a great time at Bruce and Tanya's house New Year's Eve. I guess there were 37 of us in total, with the kids outnumbering the adults. (yikes!)

Bruce made us wear the New Year's hats and crowns for family photos. Actually I kind of like that crown... :)

Bryan and Jen came too which was fun. I think they were a bit overwhelmed by all those kids!

Lesley brought the brand new puppy and she is really cute (the puppy that is, although Lesley you're pretty cute too - haha) Delaney was SO thrilled to hold it but she better not get any ideas. No dogs for us.

We always have such a great time with this group of friends and we appreciate them so much!

catching up, part 3 - Christmas morning

Here they are in their matching Old Navy Christmas jammies from Auntie Kim on Christmas Eve.

Santa came and ate our cookies and took the reindeer's veggies.

catching up, continued - family Christmas photo

Here are the Christmas photos that I never sent out.

I thought they turned out fairly well.

catching up

Christmas came and went with a lot of joy and a lot of sorrow. I think that Christmases to come will be a mix of these emotions as we remember Mom and miss her being with us. For now it's an every day kind of grief that hits each time I realize she is no longer here.

The kids embraced Christmas with a lot of joy as they found treasured items wrapped under the tree. They had fun making this gingerbread house a few weeks before Christmas. Davin couldn't believe his luck - candy and icing all in one place!

Dav's 2nd birthday!

Davin had a great time opening presents and eating cake! He is all set now for ripping open presents at Christmas. :) He is loving all of his new toys and Mommy is loving his new clothes! Gramma Donna made an amazing snowman cake - can you see the detail on the scarf and hat? And the cute little mittens? And a real carrot nose!

a year in review

I made up a slide show for Davin's birthday with photos of while he was one... I picked a few fun photos from the past year to share here. :)

quick update

I haven't been updating much lately... we've been desperately fighting some sort of stomach virus that has kept Davin sick since last Tuesday (yes, six days!) It makes me realize how much we take our health for granted. Anyway, here's hoping that tomorrow he wakes up feeling better. More later.
p.s. he wore the pirate costume :) arrrrrr!

which one?

My friend Andrea let me borrow these two costumes for Davin but I'm having trouble deciding which one to put on him for the big night. Aren't they cute?
I think I like the pirate best but when he wears the chicken he walks around saying "bawk bawk" which is pretty funny too.

corn maze

It was a very chilly Saturday but we had fun at the corn maze with friends. Delaney loved running through on the paths with the kids and her favourite parts were feeding the ponies in the little barn and the wagon ride.
Davin kept taking detours off the maze path into the rows of corn and we had to keep chasing after him, which he found quite funny.
They both really liked feeding the ducks. I thought the kids would be scared but they held out their hands with corn and the ducks ate right out of their hands.
(p.s. Bruce I stole some of your photos, hope you don't mind :)

Thanksgiving

We have SO much to be thankful for, especially these two faces.

giving thanks

We had a great time at the Osmond family Thanksgiving today. Lots of yummy food! Dav had a blast playing in the leaves. He wasn't too sure at first but then was throwing them into the air and jumping into the pile like a pro. The kids are thankful for such super older cousins who like to play with them and teach them new things!
