more zoo photos and a camel named Sally

The giraffe was so close to us, I think it was my favourite. At the end of the day Delaney and Isaac went for a CAMEL ride! It was hilarious, they laughed and had a great time.

Toronto zoo!

We had a great trip to the zoo with Bruce and Tanya and the kids. Delaney and Isaac were thrilled to see all the animals.

The polar bear was lazing in his pool and there were lots of flamingoes sleeping on one leg. :) One of Delaney's highlights was going on a pony ride. Her pony's name was Marty.

Delaney-isms

a few funny ones lately:

- calls frisbee "crisbee". "Hey Daddy! Do you want to play crisbee?"
When we try to correct her she says "ffffffcrisbee"

- we saw a bunch of motorcycles on our way to the cottage. D says "WOW! Look at those motorcycles! (thinks for a minute) "Those guys on those motorcycles can't wave because they have to hold on to their wheels!"

- Loves to pretend to play store in her room. Some recent stores: Pet store, clothes store, lemonade stand, library. The latest pretending store in her room: candy store. Daddy went down to play in the candy store. I went down to see what they were doing and he was lying on the bed. D says "Daddy isn't feeling well. He ate too much candy." Proceeds to pretend to take his temperature, looks in shock at the thermometer and says "102!!!!"

- "Do you know who is my friend? Uncle Bryan. I love him!"

- D - "Knock knock".
Me- "who's there?"
D- "umbrella!"
Me- "umbrella who?"
D - "Umbrella wagon! HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAA!"

- Delaney: "Daddy, I want a clown for a pet."
Daddy: "We don't have people as pets."
Delaney: "I'm just KIDDING!"

little boy

I'm not sure if it's the hair or what but doesn't he look more like a little boy now than a baby?
Yikes.
He's getting much better at sitting up and playing lately and he's started to move around on his tummy.
Yikes again!
Time for Delaney to hide all her Polly Pockets.

cottage

We had a fun couple of days at the cottage this weekend, in spite of the heat. I love that Delaney is excited to go there, just like her older cousins. This summer she really "gets" why the cottage is fun and special. She likes to play by the water and explore. She made mud pies and watched a frog and a turtle. Last summer she didn't like the sand between her toes. This time she was asking to go out swimming with Daddy again and again.

Davin had his first swim in the cottage lake and did his jolly jumper actions which actually resembled swimming! He also discovered grass and really wanted to taste it. I'm thinking that going to the beach might be a bad idea... :)

Playing dress up

Poor Dav, I think he has many years ahead of him with his sister doing crazy things to him. She decided that he should try on her cute pink suede shoes. He didn't seem to mind, he always likes having her attention. Posted by Picasa

Ridin' in style

What a dream come true for a three year old girl - a pink barbie bike all decked out with a bell, mirror and matching helmet! Gramma and Papa bought it for her last summer and this year she is excited to give it a try. She's not so hot at the pedalling yet... but then again that might have something to do with our gravel driveway!

My favourite part is her long curly ponytail hanging out the back of her helmet. :)

Mini golf, the sequel

Delaney was excited to play golf again, this time with Isaac. They both did really well for all 18 holes, but we faced the same heartbreak when the 18th hole kept the ball. The "mini-golf guy" said it's a common reaction. :)

Eva and Davin were happy to cheer them on.

Thanks to Bruce and Tanya for a fun evening! Posted by Picasa

cottage cutie

Dav enjoyed the cottage ... he loves to be outside and watching the kids play. I'm sure once he is mobile he'll have a lot more fun! Posted by Picasa

and then she was 3

It's hard to believe my little girl is three years old. She is fun-loving, sweet and oh-so-smart (at least we think so!) She surprises us daily with her vocabulary, her memory and her insights into the world. Her favourite things right now are drawing and stickers, Dora the Explorer, dancing around and playing outside.

For her birthday we had a party at the cottage (shared with cousin Andreah) with a fairy cake and lots of presents.

Just look how she's grown! :) Posted by Picasa

Dav's first swim

Canada Day was also Davin's first swim. At first he pouted and cried but then he realized that this was similar to the bathtub and he could splash all he wanted. As you can see he is also ready for waterskiing, tubing and kneeboarding in the little wetsuit borrowed from Isaac. :)

Laney's experiences with swimming have always involved a lifejacket so water wings were new and much better.

Happy Canada Day!

We had a great day with friends to celebrate our wonderful country. The kids had so much FUN in the pool and afterwards they all got Canada tattoos, even Davin! We went to the waterfront and waited for the fireworks... at first Delaney was scared with her hands over her ears and then she LOVED it! I love the last photo of her watching the fireworks, she had never seen anything like it before!

Happy Birthday Canada! We love it here!

Garden girl

Delaney has been eager to help with yard work this year, especially when it involves the hose. :) She has her own shovels, wheelbarrow and watering can. Auntie Kim gave her these cute garden gloves when she was a baby and this summer they fit perfectly. Today she helped Grandma with a flower pot on the deck. Afterwards she pondered what to tackle next (i.e. who to spray with the hose!) Now if we could just get her cutting the grass....

Bath time is splash time

Dav loved his first time in the big tub. He wouldn't stop flailing his arms and splashing the whole time. Even better was the reaction he got from his sister. You can tell by the gleam in his eyes that he is becoming quite a little monkey. She is in for some trouble! Posted by Picasa

Fore!

Laney had her first mini-golf experience last week and did surprisingly well (that is when she remembers she isn't playing baseball!)

She loved it, especially because her cousin Andreah came with us. We had a little trouble at the end though ... she was baffled that at the last hole it kept her ball. She is still a bit miffed about that, a week later. Posted by Picasa

After a brief hiatus...

ha ha not so brief! I guess I haven't been back to post on the blog for quite a while.
I thought I would try again and use the blog to post news and photos of the kids instead of emailing them out to everyone.
