cottage fun

We had a great time at the cottage last weekend - the weather was fantastic and the kids had a blast. After his fun time at the beach a few weeks ago, Davin decided he liked the water after all and played at the water's edge quite a bit. Delaney went fishing with a real hook and caught a few perch! Not to be outdone, Davin spent a lot of time using Delaney's Barbie fishing rod (the one without a hook) trying to catch his own. No luck. :)

getting her "ears peered"

"Uncle Jeff" just sent this great photo of Delaney at the cottage this weekend and I realized that I haven't posted about another big event from last week - Delaney got her ears pierced! (click photo to see bigger) She has been asking me for weeks if she can do it every time we go to the mall. Actually we stopped and watched a little girl get hers pierced one time and the girl cried and cried afterwards so I thought Delaney would decide against it. So when she asked again last week I went through the whole conversation again with her, like "so you know you have to sit still like a statue" and "you know it is going to hurt when they do it" and still she persisted. We walked into the store and she hopped up into the chair and sat like a statue for about five minutes while the ladies got everything ready. :) They do both at once so it's overwith quickly. She is proudly telling everyone that she now has her "ears peered".

I'm getting behind on updating this lately!

Last Monday I headed to "The County" with the kids to meet two of my best friends and their kids for a day at the beach. At Queen's Leanne and Janna were my housemates and later they were in our wedding. I cherish any time spent with them and was so excited to see them, although our get togethers are quite different now than a few years ago. Between the three of us we have 8 kids (YES, EIGHT!!) and it was fun to see them interact and play together. Laney and Ben are the same age and here you see them chatting out in the water. After our time at the beach we headed back to Janna's house for dinner and some play. Delaney loved riding around in Ben and Eli's "gator" (it really goes!) but I made her drive it on the lowest speed and I think Sam is falling asleep in this picture. (ha ha)

It was great to see all the kids and how much they've grown, although we did a bit of dreaming about next time having a girls' weekend away! :)

soccer tournament day

Today was our last day for soccer this year.... it has been more about freezies and friends for Delaney than about playing the game, but she's had fun. It was a very hot day and then during our last game the skies opened and it poured and poured, we were totally soaked, even with umbrellas! Isaac and Sophia were on a different team but we were able to watch them play today which was nice. At least Delaney's jersey will fit her for a few more years! (ha ha, it's huge! :)

Nine year anniversary yesterday!

cottage weekend

This past weekend was our first trip up to the cottage this summer. Delaney had a great time fishing with Papa and Daddy and they caught a few fish and let her reel them in. She was devastated that we let them go, I'm not sure what she was expecting (that we would keep them as pets??!) She used her Dora fishing rod (with a fake fish on the end) and was quite convinced that she would catch something with it. Dav had fun too but was more interested in the sand than in the water.

We ventured down to the festival on Friday night for the parade and then Sunday afternoon to see Barney (woo hoo!) Delaney loves horses and got to ride this one named Bobby.

We had a another party for Delaney this weekend when Bryan was home and she was thrilled as you can see!

Stephen got some great photos of the kids last night outside that I had to share. Dav thinks he's really something now that he can get up the ladder of the climber and slide down himself. Gotta love those dimples.

I know I haven't put up photos of our trip yet but here's some photos from Delaney's birthday with Stephen's family last week. I bought her some "fancy" stuff like a crown that she decorated and feathery clips for her flip flops and she thought she was all that. :)
Davin had fun too - he got a toy car that he oohed and aahed over.

we're back

I've disappeared from the blog for a while, mostly because we took a trip to Europe for a Mediterranean cruise! LOVED it. We took over 2500 photos so once I've actually looked at all of them I'll post some of the best! :)

weekend

We had a great time at Destiny and Alwyn's wedding this weekend - what a beautiful couple and a beautiful day! In between the wedding and reception we scooted out to the Sandbanks area for a bit of beach time. I'm looking forward to bringing the kids out there this summer - Davin is going to love it!
