Delaney's first skate

This past week I bought Delaney her first skates and she was so excited to go today to our church family skate. She was able to walk around in the change room just fine while wearing them so I think she was shocked when she stepped out onto the ice and it was pretty slippery!
She was thrilled to have Uncle Bryan there to skate with and he took her all around the ice. She liked sitting on the chair more than pushing it though! I guess she'll learn with practice. She loved having Isaac, Phoebe, Mackenzie and Brady there too. Hopefully we'll be doing more skating on Papa's rink this winter.

Santa Claus parade

Friday night we met up with friends to watch the Santa Claus parade. Delaney was excited to hand her letter to Santa to the Canada Post mail carrier. It was pretty cold but we had fun, that is until Delaney announced she had to go pee. Needless to say she missed seeing Santa but I guess she'll see him at the mall! :) (p.s. Bruce, I stole some of your photos - thanks! :)

family photos

Last week after church we took a few quick photos. I just love Davin's outfit with the little white dress shirt under his sweater and shoes of Isaac's.

first steps

He's so proud of himself every time he walks. He's always grinning and looking around to see if anyone is watching. Posted by Picasa

taking a stroll

Over the past few weeks Davin has become an official walker! It started with pushing around toy bins or doll strollers or the little grocery cart and he loved the freedom of zooming around after his sister. He also learned he could stash toys in the cart to take along with him. :)

It's not about the tricks....

... it's all about the treats!
Dav was the cutest lion ever and Delaney was a beautiful princess. She was totally into trick or treating and did a great job talking to everyone at their doors.
And also here's our three jacks. :)

hot stuff and monkey business

Dav is such a monkey that I was excited to borrow Andrea's monkey costume for him for Halloween... it is so cute with a banana too! But it's a little small. At least I got some good photos of him in it! I also realized I had this hot pepper costume and it looked pretty funny but I thought he would get mad with his legs scrunched inside while trick or treating. :) So we went with option #3 for Halloween night .....

Pumpkin cobwebs?

With three pumpkins to carve we were hoping Delaney would enjoy taking out the seeds and not be disgusted by all the pulp. At first she didn't like it but once we convinced her that it's fun to get messy she dove right in. She kept calling the stuff inside "cobwebs" because of the way it all sticks to the sides.

Dav didn't mind his pumpkin suit and his main objective was to see what was inside of each pumpkin. I think he may have eaten some of the pulp too. Yuck.

Fall traditions

When I was young my family would often go to Vanderwater Park in the fall to see the changing fall colours along the river. Now we live so close that we've tried to go there as a family every year. Our fall traditions also include photos of the kids in the leaves at Gramma and Papa's house. Luckily Papa hadn't raked them up yet!

still standing

Yes, he really is standing on his own! I just happened to catch it before he sat down. More often these days Dav is holding something with two hands and just stands there for a few seconds. He is improving with how long he can stand before tumbling down. Posted by Picasa

Eve and that guy

Delaney is always coming up with such interesting things but I just had to record a conversation we all had on Sunday :

Us: "So what did you learn in Sunday School today?"
D: "I learned the story of Eve and that guy."
Stephen: "Adam?"
D: "Yeah, Adam and Eve. They ate fruit."
S: "Good fruit?"
D: "Yeah, and then they ate bad fruit and got tummy aches and then they threw up. Then they went to the hospital and then they felt better and then they ate some more bad fruit and that's the story of Adam and Eve."
S: "Did Adam and Eve do anything else?"
D: "No."
S: "What were they wearing?"
D: "Nothing!"
S: "Why weren't they wearing any clothes?"
D: "I don't know. Maybe they were getting big tummies."

a few last trip photos

On one of the days we were away we spent a morning at Bushkill Falls where we hiked down around a beautiful waterfall. I mostly carried Dav in the baby carrier (yikes, he's heavy) but he also spent some time on Daddy's shoulders which he just loves. The last photo is of the condo that we stayed in... the leaves out side our windows were amazing.

this boy

This boy is so full of beans, especially lately. I wanted to do a fun layout to go with this photo and I love these Scenic Route papers because they're so colourful. I got this photo when I was trying to take a picture of him crawling and he kept crawling right up to the camera and trying to grab it. :) Posted by Picasa

Pumpkin festival

While we were away we went to a country pumpkin festival that had a petting zoo and carnival rides and lots of pumpkins! Delaney had a great time on the carousel and bouncy castle and Dav liked the play area with a pretend fire truck to sit in.

Photos from our trip

We went on a fairly impromptu trip to the Pocono Mountains area last week with friends/family and had a great time away. One of the highlights was a trip to the Crayola Factory where there were lots of creative activities for Delaney - making masks, drawing with chalk, crayons and markers and using the model magic clay.

Stunning

Fall is my favourite season because of the stunning beauty of the changing leaves. On our vacation last week I took this photo at a waterfall near where we where staying. I just love the vibrant colours of the leaves and the rushing water over the rocks.

I think I'll be enlarging this one!
More photos to come. Posted by Picasa

candid

Out of many photos Stephen took of us the other day I like these the best. Not looking at the camera but at each other. :)
